About the Imam Bargah

Imambargah Atiya Ahlebait (a.s.), located on Nicholson Road and founded by Dr. Syed Riaz Ali Shah, is one of the oldest and most spiritually significant Imambargahs in Pakistan. The Ashra-e-Majalis are held annually from the 1st to the 10th of Muharram. Among these, the majalis on the 6th and 9th of Muharram hold particular importance, making them events not to be missed.

Monthly Majalis are held on the first Sunday of every Islamic month starts at 4:00 pm and ends before Maghrib prayers, offering a spiritual gathering to reflect, learn, and grow in faith.

On the last Sunday of Muharram-ul-Haram, a dedicated Ladies Majlis is held after Zohrain prayers. The program features the heartfelt Ziyarat of Shabih-e-Jhoola of Shahzada Ali Asghar (AS) and Ziyarat-e-Taboot of Shahzadi Bibi Sakina (SA), honoring their immense sacrifices with deep reverence and mourning.

Prominent scholars have graced this Imambargah over the decades, including the renowned Allama Talib Johri, who delivered Ashra-e-Majalis here in 1983. Allama Zulfiqar Hussain Naqvi also served for many years (29yrs), while Molana Bashir Ansari contributed significantly in the 1960s and 1970s (17yrs). Currently, Moulana Syed Absar Ali Naqvi captivates hearts and minds with profound, historically rich insights drawn from the Qur'an and Hadith, nurturing the spiritual growth of Momineen and Mominaat through his enlightening discourses.

The majalis commence at approximately 6:30 AM, drawing thousands of attendees. On the 9th of Muharram, a grand procession takes place, featuring the symbolic Shabih-e-Zareeh of Imam Hussain (a.s.), along with Shabih-e-Zuljinah and Alam.
